Research park coming up in Newtown- Rajarhat

June 13, 2008

Yesterday, I met a NRI ( Mr. Mukherjee) who lives in New Jersey in Kolkata, who is setting up a Research Park in New Town. According to him, almost four US companies ( Big names) have already signed up to set up research centres in the Park. It would probably take a couple more years for the park to come up and he did express how difficult it was to get this project off the ground. I think if more and more such activities are started by NRI’s who can exhibit some level of patience , the environment is bound to get transformed. Good Luck.

June 2, 2008

Sramana Mitra,

India is riding high on outsourcing.

Information technology and IT-enabled services will employ 4 million people in 2008 and account for 7% of gross domestic product and 33% of India ‘s foreign-exchange inflows, according to Nasscom, an Indian IT industry organization.

The death of this industry is far from anyone’s mind.
